Khek River Conservation Project

In today's world, where environmental problems are becoming more and more serious, particularly water resource degradation and pollution, the Khek River, a vital lifeline for communities in Wang Thong District, Phitsanulok Province, is also facing this challenge. Mr. Nattawat Wattanaprasit, owner of Rainforest Resort, recognizing the importance of conserving and restoring this water source, initiated an idea and gathered cooperation from the resort's staff, children and youth in the community, and other local residents to instill awareness and prepare for a concrete collaboration under the "Khek River Conservation Project." With a broad vision and determination to revitalize the Khek River, local people have come together to unite. He aims to return the Khek River to its pristine and beautiful state, a lifeline for life and a memorable experience for visitors. The Khek River Conservation Group was established with the following objectives:

1. Conserve and develop Kaeng Song Waterfall, Sakunothayan Waterfall, Poi Waterfall, and Ratchamangkla Phisek Park to ensure cleanliness and beauty

2. Improve water quality in the Khek River.

3. Instill awareness and behavioral change among community members and tourists to help preserve the environment.

4. Establish safety standards for waterfall visitors and rafters on the Khek River.

5. Provide training and education on waste management and pollution reduction to club members and the community.

6. Promote unity among communities along the Khek River, foster social responsibility, and be good hosts to tourists.

7. Establish a network of communities involved in the conservation of the Khek River.

Main goal

1. Conserve and develop Kaeng Song Waterfall, Poi Waterfall, Sakunothayan Waterfall, Ratchamangkla Phisek Park, and the Khek River to ensure cleanliness, beauty, and improved water quality.

2. Provide training to communities and youth living near the Khek River and tourist attractions to foster awareness of environmental conservation and natural resources.

3. Provide ongoing education on waste management, waste separation, and pollution to the community.

4. Establish high safety standards for visitors to the Khek River and whitewater rafting.

5. Provide knowledge about wastewater treatment before discharge into the river to the community, restaurant operators, resorts, and hotels located near the Khek River and tourist attractions. This includes not discharging wastewater directly into the river, and recommending that every household install a grease trap.

6. Establish regulations and instill awareness among the community, restaurant operators, resort operators, rafting operators, inner tube rental operators, and tourists. Let's help conserve the environment and the ecosystem around Kaeng Song Waterfall.

7. Enhance the capacity of the Kaeng Song community and the Khek River to foster unity, social responsibility, and be good hosts to tourists. 8. Provide training and education to farmers on the use of organic fertilizers instead of chemical fertilizers.

9. Establish a larger Khek River conservation network.

10. Conserve rare and endangered aquatic animals in the Khek River, such as freshwater jellyfish and various fish species, so they continue to exist in the Khek River.

11. Integrate whitewater rafting activities with garbage collection in the Khek River to maintain river cleanliness and raise awareness among the community and tourists.
